Classroom Staff

About our classroom staff

Our classroom staff are vitally important to help our pupils learn the skills they need to become as independent as possible in later life.  The school is split into two phases (lower and upper school) with multiple classes often split over multiple rooms.  There are three different types of staff working in our classrooms.

Class Leads: our class leads have a range of brilliant skills, experience, and qualifications, including QTS and MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis. They are responsible for overseeing the pupils in the class and their individual programmes, delivering 1:1 and small group sessions, and managing and training the tutors. They are the main point of contact for parents and professionals. All of our class leads are managed by one of our Assistant Heads to support them in their role.

Senior Tutors: our senior tutors have usually been with us for a little while and have shown themselves to be highly skilled tutors. Senior tutors are line managed by the class lead, but support in leading the tutors in that class.  Senior tutors act as a 'second in command' for a class and often respond to challenging situations, provide training to tutors, and deliver 1:1 and small group sessions.

Tutors: our tutors work directly with the pupils' day in and day out.  They implement learning programmes and collect data.  Tutors receive constant supervision and support from class leads, senior tutors, BCBA's, and therapists.  They also receive an in-depth induction training before they start working in the classroom.
