The Chatten Curriculum

Every child in the UK is entitled to a rich and diverse educational experience that meets their unique needs and abilities. At Chatten Free School, we recognise that our pupils need a radically different approach in order to thrive. In collaboration with families, educators, and specialists, we have embraced a holistic approach to learning that celebrates individuality and fosters growth.

Many of our students have previously attended special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) schools, where they found the conventional curriculum and teaching styles unsuitable. This means that many were even out of education for extended periods of time. As a result, we have developed a radically different approach to education, tailored to each pupil's specific requirements.

At the heart of our philosophy is the belief that every child deserves an radical approach to education tailored to their strengths, interests, and developmental needs. Therefore, we provide each student with a fully individualised learning program designed to unlock their full potential.  This means there are rarely any group activities and pupils will be working on their own fully individualised curriculum and timetable.

Our curriculum reflects this commitment to personalised learning, offering a flexible framework that allows for both age-appropriate learning goals and developmental milestones. Through careful planning and collaboration, we create bespoke learning pathways that work with and alongside pupil's EHCPs, ensuring they receive the support and challenges they need to thrive.

To learn more about our innovative curriculum and how it supports our students at every stage of their journey, we invite you to explore the dedicated pages for each key stage. At Chatten Free School, we are proud to offer a truly unique and inclusive approach to education, where every child has the opportunity to succeed.
